What is God's
anointing?

it
is knowing the supernatural presence of God upon us, being aware of His
presence with us
Ø
it
also means the chosen one
Ø
it
is God doing this things only He can do, doing them through a flesh and blood
earthly vessel.(2nd Corinthians 4:7)
Ø
It
is being enabled, entrusted and empowered to accomplish God’s will.
The
anointing opens your mind, teaches you, guides you and enables you to be
stronger Christians, more powerful Christians. Not just people who are saved
but people who are saved, indwelt and empowered.
To be
anointed by God is not only to be picked, but also to be empowered by Him for
the task or position to which He has called you.
It is
the presence of the Holy Spirit. The anointing we have received from Jesus is
by the Holy Spirit (compare 1st John 2:20, 26-7; John 14:26)
The
anointing is God's spirit and power for service in this earth. Jesus has
provided the same presence of the Holy Spirit for us in our earthly ministries
that He had in His earthly ministry.
The word
‘Christ’ is not just another name for Jesus but a reference to the anointed and
the anointing that was on Him and in Him. In the same way the word ‘Christians’
means more than just followers of Jesus. It means the ‘anointeds’. The same
yoke-destroying anointing that was on Jesus is available in you
If you
are in Christ there is an anointing for everything you are called to do, no
matter how small or great the task is. That’s what Apostle Paul meant by saying
"I can do all things through Christ (the anointed and His anointing) who
strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
The same
anointing that enabled you to be born again, will heal you, help you succeed
and empower you to prosper spirit, soul, body and in every aspect of your life
(see Luke 5:20-24)
The
secret of anointing is obedience (John 8:29, John 8:47). 1st Samuel 16:14 Saul
was left by the spirit of God and distressing spirit troubled him, all this
happened coz of his disobedience to God.
When you
are anointed you can raise the dead, preach, have authority (Luke 4:32), cast
out demons (Luke4:34), heal the sick (Luke 4:40) this is because we have the
same anointing of Jesus by the Spirit of God. (1st john 2:20) it is further
confirmed in 1st john 2:27.
The
anointing of God means being set apart for service. We have received the
anointing (1John 2:20, 1 john 2:27, 2corithians 1:21. this happens by being
born again (John 3:3). Some will ask if they are anointed by God and the answer
is yes coz we have received the spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15)
The anointing
breaks yokes (Isaiah 10:27). It breaks yokes of sickness, disease and
depression.
BLOCKAGES TO THE
ANOINTING
Here are
some of the things that make us lack anointing:

Failure
to honour our parents and spiritual authority
Ø
Failure
to renounce the sins of the ancestors
Ø
Failure
to renounce wrong doctrine, fear, doubt, unbelief and lack of forgiveness
Ø
Failure
to break with the occult.
OCCASIONS OF GOD'S
ANOINTING
Ø
By
the word of God. We need to be disciplined reader of the word of God
Ø
Praise
and worship. We should enter into praise and worship regularly
Ø
Salvation.
As we really come to know God the anointing of God enters us
Ø
When
there is healing and deliverance from demons great anointing occurs
Ø
Testimony.
When one is giving their testimony the anointing will frequently fall on the
meeting
Ø
Preaching
the word. When the preacher speaks from his heart and reads the word of God
with belief, the anointing will fall
Ø
Gifts
of the Holy Spirit. When the a person is operating in the word of knowledge,
word of wisdom, discernment of spirits and other gifts, the people sense the
power of God present
Ø
Prayer
and fasting. During times of prayers and fasting the anointing of God can be
felt
Ø
Walking
in the will of God. When all our thoughts and actions are centered on God
through Jesus Christ and we are seeking to follow the His will, we will
frequently sense the anointing of God
Ø
When
there is a gathering of persons committed to the lordship of Jesus Christ or
who are seeking such commitment and who begin to put aside all doubt, fear and
unbelief, the anointing of god falls on the gathering
Ø
Repentance.
When there is true attitude of repentance and acts of repentance, then the
anointing will frequently manifest
TO KNOW GOD'S
ANOINTING:
Ø
Surrender
absolutely to the Lordship of Jesus Christ
Ø
Believe
the word of God in its entirety
Ø
Ensure
you are baptized by water, thus
identifying Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection
Ø
Repent
from all sins, especially unbelief, doubt, fear, things of the occult,
unforgiveness, blockage of mind, wrong doctrine
Ø
Be
baptized with the Holy Spirit
Ø
Read
the scripture which confirms we have the anointing from the Holy one (1st John
2:20, 1st John 2:27)
Ø
Go
on your knees and pray
If you
do all this, then you will sense the peace of God coming around you and you
will feel the physical warmth of the Holy Spirit descending upon you.
We
really need the anointing of God as we know through the anointing the yoke is
broken and healings, deliverances and mighty miracles take place
HOW TO MAINTAIN THE
FLOW OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (ANOINTING)

Examine
your attitude
- unfortunately a spirit of fear holds many Christians in bondage and hinders
them from living an abundant life. The moment some of us Christians have a new
experience with God we start thinking how long it will last. Maybe we have
allowed the flame of God's anointing to go out and now feel unqualified to
start all over again or perhaps we are afraid of losing the fresh anointing we
have received. We cannot permit ourselves to become immersed in unbelief, doubts
and fear.
When God anointed you
with His Holy Spirit, He didn’t give you a spirit of timidity or fear. The oil
(anointing) that descended upon you is the spirit of love, power and self
control (2nd Timothy 1:7). Don’t be paralyzed by fear so you end up losing all
God has given you. If you follow the word of God, the oil of the anointing of
the Holy Spirit will not run dry.

Establish
your priorities-when
the woman told Elijah her problems, he told her "go home and do as you
have said but first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and
bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son" (1
kings 17:13)the word first is significant. He appears to be insensitive coz he
knew that this window had little food but he asked her to provide food for him
first. But in doing so he was applying a basic principle for receiving God's
blessing. This applies to everything we do, if you want blessings in everything
you do then give God first and He will give you what you need and even more. Consecrate
your life to God; let Him be the most important thing in your life. If we put
Him first we will never lose the intensity of the anointing in us
Ø
Obedience- many of us are anointed by god
to minister with signs and wonders and God commands us to pray for the sick in His
name so he may heal them but instead of listening to Him and following His
commands, we become afraid, lose our faith and end up disobeying. We do this
over and over again until God cannot trust us again and so the anointing
decreases. When God fills you with the anointing, He does so you can be a
blessing to others and so by disobeying, you ruin everything and the anointing
flows out of you.

Have
time with God-
we have to understand the importance of having time with God alone. There is no
secret formula in this. Anointed men and women who have been raised up by God
in each generation have been those whose prayer lives were rich and consistent.
We must be alone with Him as much as possible not to only seek more of Him but
also to see our anointing increase .Jesus practiced this in his own life,
pilling away to be alone with His Father and there He received more holy
anointing

Sharing
the anointing-for
anointing not to run dry, we have to share it. so many of us spend time praying
for more anointing but God is telling us to stop asking for anointing but to
ask for people to share our anointing with coz that way our anointing will
never cease ( Elisha with the window 2kings 4). The oil of anointing will cease
when we stop finding people with which to share our anointing with. As long as
there are new people who needs the anointing the anointing will keep on flowing
in us.
Ø
Vessels
to fill-the
people around you are needy, lacking things that only Jesus can produce in
their lives, when we bless them, two things will happen, they will be filled
and the anointing in us will flow even more. Remember that blessing those
around you is only the beginning; God expects our influence to reach to the
ends of world. If you ask God for not only anointing but also for people to
bless with the anointing, God will send you people to minister to and bless.
All of a sudden you will start seeing people in a new way; the Holy Spirit will
show you their needs that lie deep in their hearts. You will be able to minister
to them in a specific way, and the anointing will go with you and increase in
you. The oil (anointing) will only run dry if there are no more vessels to
fill.
The potter who formed you and
made you into a jar, when you oiled with the oil of the spirit (anointing), you
bless those around you. If you feeling hopeless as the widow of Zarephath,
don’t allow your spiritual life to die but be open to receive a new anointing.
If you have asked for oil, you have received God's anointing already. Now ask
for jars (people) to share the oil with (bless) them.
